Here in Jacumã you can find a perfect combination of deserted beaches and beaches full of Brazilians depending on where you go. A former fishing village, Jacumã is quiet and only now being discovered by tourists. It is located about 200 kilometers south of the city of Natal and 130 kilometers north of Recife both of which have international airports and regular flights to Europe.
The village has about 1500 or 2000 inhabitants, but on major holidays (Carnaval, New Years, Holy Week) some 30,000 tourist fill the beaches.
The village has shops, restaurants, large and small hotels. Besides the native population there are a lot of week-enders who come to their houses.
Shops: We have many small shops including those that sell general merchandise, folk art, clothes, and magazines.
Restaurants: Besides the food kiosks, you will find some excellent restaurants. Remember that many of them serve plates for two persons.
Night life: The town has a number of small bars, beside the traditional lambadas that are popular with the native population. On weekends, live music is often available.
Health: Jacumã lacks a hospital, but has a small municipal health center serviced by a doctor and a nurse. There is a local pharmacy where you can buy necessary health products. In emergencies, it takes 30 minutes to get to a hospital in João Pessoa.
